Screaming Potatoes

Smiley potatoes are out! Screaming Potatoes are all the rage!

An eerie version of the childhood favorite Potato Smileys. This quick and easy potato recipe is a SCREAM! Horror movie night will never be the same.



 

RECIPE:

2 Cups Mashed Potatoes

1/4 Cup Breadcrumbs

4 tsp Cornstarch

1/2 tsp Salt

2 Egg Yolks

1 tsp Baking Powder

Canola Oil for frying

Dipping Sauce of choice


TOOLS

Straw

Skewer

Cardstock paper

Knife

Parchment paper


INSTRUCTIONS:

- In a large bowl, combine mashed potatoes. breadcrumbs, cornstarch, salt, egg yolks, and baking powder. Mix until you get a nice potato dough.

-On a piece of parchment paper, roll out the dough to 1/4 inch thickness and cut out an


upside down egg shape. With a straw, punch out the eyes and mouth and use a skewer for the nose holes. (refer to video). In the end you should have nice screaming faces.

-Heat oil to 350• f

-Drop in 3 potato faces at a time in the oil. Cook for 1 minute each side for a total of 2 minutes.

-Bake at 400• f for 5 minutes for an extra crispy exterior.

-Serve Immediately and Enjoy with you favorite dipping sauce.


AND BAM! PERFECT SCREAMING POTATOES!!!


*Refer to the video for how to make the face shape. You can always get creative and put your own spin on the faces.

*If the straw gets clogged up by the dough, clear it out with a skewer.

*When draining the boiled potatoes, make sure all the water has dripped out.

* make sure to place on a rack after frying to let the oil drip off. This helps them stay crispy.
