These bone scones are an easy shortcut for you next tea time.
"Magic is in the simplest of ingredients." These perfect bone scones require only 4 ingredients. They are perfect with jam and cream.
RECIPE
1 3/4 cups self-raising flour (not all-purpose)
1/2 cup Heavy Cream
1/2 cup 7UP
Sanding sugar
INSTUCTIONS
-Preheat oven to 390°f
-Mix flour, heavy cream, and 7UP together until dough is
just combined. (Don't over-mix!) dough will be soft,
sticky, and not fully formed.
-Dump the dough on a floured surface.
-Fold dough 3-5 times and lightly pat into a circle.
If the dough is too sticky, flour your hands a bit.
-With a cookie cutter, dip it in flour and cut out the shape.
I used a bone shape, but you can use any shape.
-Place on lined baking try. Brush with heavy cream and
sprinkle with sanding sugar.
-Bake for 15 mins until golden brown. Serve hot with lots jam
and cream.
NOTES*
* It is very important not to over mix or over work the dough. This will result in dry tough scones.
*These are best served hot with jam and cream. If eaten alone, you may find these on the dry side.
* Sprinkling with sanding sugar is important. It has the subtile sweetness.
